Regional Summit Agenda

The 2011 Regional Summit is scheduled to be held on May 25th, 2011 at War Memorial Auditorium, with Charles Bone and Gary Scott to serve as joint moderators. The format and agenda follows:

1:00 pm Welcome and Opening Comments on Regional Collaborative Action that is building on Six Issues of Regional Importance identified at 2009 and 2010 Summit Events and recognize regional developments and progress to date through strategic partnerships and collaborative actions, especially regarding Regional Transportation and Transit, which was the focus of the 2009 and 2010 Summit programs – THEME: Our Region Grows Together

1:05 pm -  National Keynote Speaker- The Honorable John Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado (Invited) – THEME: Progress and Success in the Denver Colorado Region

  • Denver Region’s Progress to Date on Regional Issues and Actions
  • Denver Region’s Collaborative Leadership Strategies

1:35 pm Peer Regional Keynote Speaker- Alan Matheson, Executive Director of Envision Utah – THEME: Progress and Success in the Salt Lake Utah Region

2:15 pm Interactive Electronic Response Session designed to obtain real time regional input and continued research of perceptions and confirmation on regional thinking and actions that will continue to advance our region

2:30 pm Middle Tennessee Regional Leaders Panel Reporting Progress and Needed Future Action on our Six Issues of Regional Importance – THEME: Making it Happen through the POWER OF TEN

3:45 pm Break

4:00 pm Partnership for Sustainable Communities Update – HUD, DOT and EPA Sustainable Communities Leaders Shelly Poticha (Invited), DOT Representative, and John Frece and SGA moderator Geoff Anderson to be introduced by TDOT Commissioner John Schroer-  THEME: Remarks on National Initiative that is bringing the US Departments of HUD, DOT and EPA together to ensure that the agencies policies, programs, and funding gets better results for communities and uses taxpayer money more efficiently. Coordinating federal investments in infrastructure, facilities, and services meets multiple economic, environmental, and community objectives with each dollar spent. The Partnership is helping communities across the country to create more housing choices, make transportation more efficient and reliable, reinforce existing investments, and support vibrant and healthy neighborhoods that attract businesses. – Speaker provides specific remarks:

5:05 pm Leadership in Regional Thinking and Action Awards – 2009 Winner – Jack Turner to Preside
